Ajith’s Kireedom postponed

Kireedom, the action-packed flick starring Ajith, Rajkiran and Trisha in lead roles were initially expected to hit the floors on 1 May coinciding with Ajith’s birthday. However the movie's release has been postponed.

Kireedom is loosely based on Malayalam film titled the same. Directed by a debutant Vijay and produced by Suresh Balaji, Kireedom is complete.

Sources close to the producer say since Rajinikanth's starrer Sivaji is releasing on 17 May, Kireedm to avoid direct competition with Sivaji has opted for a delayed release.

For now, the wait continues for Ajith fans.

Rajinikanth is my role model, said Ajith

Speaking to media persons on the eve of his birthday in Chennai, Ajith said, "I admire Rajinikanth a lot. He is a role model for actors of this generation." On his forthcoming release Kireedom, Ajith said it is a remake of a blockbuster Malayalam hit. Debutant director Vijay, who had worked as associate to Priyadharshan has done a good job. Being part of veteran producer K Balaji's production is a delight and also it is the first time that Ambani's Adlabs has involved themselves in a film production down south.

Aware of the challenges he has to face in the remake of Rajinikanth's yesteryear hit Billa, Ajith said, "It is a tough job to redo a yesteryear hit. When we suggested the idea to Rajinikanth, he spontaneously gave us the permission to rework his film. Half the battle was won after obtaining his permission. Billa (2007) is a dedication to 'Super Star', who had worked very hard to reach the glory in the industry."

"I take both success and failures alike. They have made me mature", he adds. Asked whether he would be art of multi-starrers, the actor said, "if the storyline is good and I have scope to perform, I would certainly do it."
