Billa 2007 – Trisha and Shreya vie for honors

Looks like there is stiff competition between the lead ladies of Tamil cinema to be cast in the remake of old Rajini hit Billa, which is titled Billa 2007. The late 80s hit which starred Rajini, Praveena, and Sripriya will be remade with Ajith in the lead. Though Nayanthara has been finalized for the role done by Praveena, the other role is yet to be taken.

News has it that Trisha and Shreya are eyeing the hot spot and are in constant contact with the crew. Shreya stands a better chance this time since Trisha has already been roped in for Ajith’s next Kreedom. However, Shreya’s market has skyrocketed ever since she starred in Sivaji and her paycheck is scraping the borders of Rs. 40 lakhs. Sources state that Shreya could lose the opportunity if she shows no interest in slashing her paycheck. The other contenders for the role are Thamiraparani Banu and Reema Sen.

Billa’s shoots will commence from February. The movie is produced by Ananda Suresh and directed by Vishnu Vardhan.

Ajith keeps a low profile

Ajith, who delivered a hit after many debacles, maintains a stoic silence. He chooses to stay away from the media and does not turn up for public functions too. The actor, who was chosen as the favourite hero by a popular satellite channel recently, chose not to turn up for the event and receive his award.

Once bitten twice shy is Ajith. He was frank and outspoken until a couple of years ago and was very much accessible to the media. However, the actor soon realized the significance of silence.

Ajith's Aalwar is ready to hit screens this Pongal, while Kireedom is on the floors. He replaces Rajinikanth in the remake version of yesteryear blockbuster Billa.

Alwar stills

Why was Rajkiran chosen for Ajith's Kreedom?

In the film Kreedom, Ajith’s father wants him to become a police officer but much to his disappointment Ajith goes on to become gangster and carves a niche for himself. The role of Ajith’s father is a very powerful and a pivotal one and the director expected someone with a strong acting caliber to suit the bill. When the name of Rajkiran was suggested, it was accepted by one and all.

Rajkiran was approached and he agreed to don this role as he realized that it had immense potential to quench his acting thirst. According to Kollywood sources, Rajkiran is emerging to be a very good supportive and character artiste in Tamil films.

Scoop on Ajith’s Billa 2007

One of the grandest remakes of all times, Billa 2007 – which will have Ajith recreating the role of Rajini – will be kick started during 2007. Ajith is currently busy with Alwar giving the movie its final touch before its release. Billa 2007 is in the queue and will, however, only commence after Ajith’s Kreedom is finished.

The flick will be produced by Suresh Balaji and news is now out that Vishnuvardhan will direct Billa 2007.

Vishnuvardhan already has Pattiyal and Arindum Ariyamalum to his credit and is known to be a sensible director, which his movies proved in turn.

Billa 2007 is slated for 2007 release, which would be the 20th year of the original Billa’s release. Veteran producer Balaji produced the original movie and alongside Rajini, the movie starred Sripriya, Manorama, and Bollywood bombshell Helen. On the other hand, Billa 2007’s cast apart from Ajith is yet to be finalized.

No change for Ajith film

The tax waiver for a Tamil film with a Tamil title from Tamil Nadu government has resulted in movies with chaste Tamil titles. Films with non-Tamil titles are quick to be altered to an authentic Tamil one. There was a talk about Ajith’s film Kreedam to be changed to Magudam as the word Kreedam has its origin in Sanskrit and Malayalam. But the committee who is responsible to confirm if a title is Tamil or not has informed the producer Suresh Balaji that he can go ahead with Kreedam.

Pleased with this news, the film had its first song recorded on Friday with playback singer Jayachandran rendering the number. The shooting for Kreedam begins at Rajamundry on December 6th. For director Vijay this will be his maiden directorial venture.

Asin on Alps travel with Ajith couple

Asin is just back from Switzerland after finishing the shoots of Alwar. She did not come alone though. Well, don’t unleash your imagination yet.

It is just that she brought home loads of memories from the Alpine country. Now over to the petite beauty who couldn’t have enough of Switzerland.

I flew to Switzerland with Ajith, Shalini, and my father Joseph Thottumkal. The landscape of that country was simply breathtaking and Alps was a marvel by itself. The sight of Alps was simply awe-inspiring and the only thing that made me frown during the trip was for dancing in those transparent outfits during the shoots, which froze me to death, quipped Asin. We had a great time sight seeing in winches that take you above the mountains and the view was spectacular, she added on.

Now that she loves the place, did she enquire the real estate value? Well, she did not say anything of that sort. On the other hand, she left a valuable piece of information before signing off. She uttered that she found a new friend in Shalini and movies with Ajith such as Varalaru and Alwar brought those ladies together. So, she wouldn’t miss all that girly talk while on the sets, would she?

Vishnu to direct Ajith

After missing out an opportunity to direct Suriya, director Vishnuvardhan has now managed to bag a plump offer to wield the megaphone for a movie starring Ajith.

It's now official that Vishnuvardhan would direct Ajith's film to be produced by Anadha L Suresh.

Having completed Aalwar, Ajith will do a movie for Suresh Balaji (Magudam). On completing the movie, Ajith's movie with Vishnuvardhan would commence.

The movie has not been titled yet. Search for a heroine is on. Meanwhile Vishnuvardhan is planning to complete his Sarvam before beginning his movie with Ajith.

Vishnu is elated at the opportunity to direct Ajith.

Ajith's Magudam

Ajith's next venture after Aalwar is Magudam. This movie will hit the floors on 6th December.

This movie underwent change of title recently. Earlier it was named Kireedom.

This movie, said to be based on Malayalam actor Mohanlal's classic Kireedom, will be produced by Balaji's Sujatha Cine Arts in collaboration with Mumbai's Adlabs.

Vijay, one-time associate director of Malayalam director Priyadharsan, is wielding the megaphone. Thiru will be behind the camera.

G.V. Prakash will score music. Trisha, Rajikiran and Saranya are playing vital roles.

It is to be noted that Malayalm movie Kireedom received National Award in 1989. This movie is expected to hit theatres on May 1st, 2007.

Rajini gives dinner to Ajith

Rajinikanth is always different and genuine in whatever he does.

Rajinikanth also has a way of surprising many with his spontaneity and large-heartedness.

Recently at the shoot of Sivaji, he caught the entire unit unawares as he presented them with smart winter clothing.

Of course, his munificence doesn't stop with his teammates. His general goodwill goes far and beyond.

The recent recipients of Rajini's good-natured wishes were Ajith and his wife Shalini.

The superstar was very much impressed with Ajith's new release Varalaru. Rajini had seen the movie at a special show and had conveyed his appreciation to director K S Ravikumar.

He had also spoken to Ravikumar about Ajith's splendid performance in the film.

Rajini recently invited Ajith and Shalini to his house and held a grand dinner for them.

Rajini was unstinting in his praise for Ajith. "It is great work," Rajini said of Ajith's triple role in Varalaru.

Needless to say, Ajith and Shalini were overwhelmed by Rajini's warmth.

Ajith`s Magudam!

Ajith starrer Varalaru is doing good business at the box office. In fact, in the films released during Diwali, Varalaru walks away with all the laurels. This is good news for Ajith and his fans. As they say, success is the greatest motivator and tonic for any normal human being and it has rejuvenated Ajith greatly. A string of films wait for him to get completed and Aalwar stands next in the list. Trade pundits feel that the film would be ready for winter.

Meanwhile, Kireedom which was slated to begin after Aalwar is likely to go in for a name change. Kireedom sounds more of a Malayalam name than of Tamil.

Hence to follow the latest trend of having Tamil names as film titles, Kireedom may be changed to Magudam which means crown is the synonym of Kireedam in Malayalam.

Ajith, K S Ravikumar: The hit duo to join again?

The box office success of Varalaaru seems to have left Ajith and the rest of the team in high spirits. Varalaaru, which was released on Diwali day, tops the charts and Ajith’s role in the movie is receiving accolades already for his portrayal of three different characters with ease.

Whilst on the subject, he is now shooting day in and day out for his Aalwar, which is scheduled to be released for Pongal, the next big Tamil festival after Diwali. He has already signed for Kireedom, which is produced by Suresh Balaji and will start shooting for the same after Aalwar.

In the mean time, it seems Ajith has decided upon his next movie, after Kireedom that is. The project will be produced by Ananda Pictures, L. Suresh. With Varalaaru proved as a hit, director K.S. Ravikumar was planned for the movie.

However, since K.S.R. is busy with Dasavatharam and it is uncertain if he would be able to finish Dasavatharam before the commencement of Ajith’s new movie, the director part is still under contemplation. The name of Udhayan, who directed Perarasu with Vijayakanth, is also under consideration. It seems Ajith is captivated by Udhayan’s racy presentation of the flick.

Opening King: Ajith

Ultimate Star Ajith Kumar once again proved that he is the opening king of the box-office. His recently released Varalaaru (Godfather) earned 10.2 crores in the first two days.

Super star Rajinikanth’s Chandramukhi earned 8.9 crores, Vijay’s Ghilli grossed 7.6 crores in 3 days.

Ajith has starred in three different roles in this movie for the first time in his career. Director K.S. Ravikumar has presented this movie in his own style to the Tamil audience.

The big plus for the movie is the music, by young genius A.R. Rahman.

Ajith fans celebrate Varalaru in a strange manner

Diwali – the grand day of releases – witnessed grandeur festivities all over. The theatres around Tamil Nadu had a lion’s share of the merriment when the fans thronged to have the first-day-first-show experience of their favorite heroes. Ajith fans celebrated the release of his long-pending Varalaru in the theatres with abhishekams, shrill, shrieks, and lots more.

While in most parts of the state the cutouts of Ajith were drenched in milk and abhishekam was performed, a theatre in Trichy witnessed an abhishekam of a rare kind. An impatient fan who was deprived of milk packets from the nearby shop opened the gin bottle – which was purchased to energize his spirits while the movie was being screened – and poured the entire contents to the cutout executing an alcoholic abhishekam. Deriving inspiration from this, his friend who stood nearby performed an ‘arti’ illuminating the panmasala sachet he had in hand. We are not sure if Ajith would have enjoyed this sight but the onlookers most certainly did.

Even as there were no unfortunate incidents reported on Diwali day owing to the release of Varalaru, a theatre in Chennai witnessed unrest for a while and the issue was soon settled when the police intervened.

Varalaru - Triple whammy

Ajit has been off the radars for some time now. And perhaps to compensate it all, he hogs all the limelight in triple variations in Varalaru. Varalaru is all Ajit. He manfully tries to lift the movie on his shoulders. To a certain extent, his screen presence and charisma see it through. Alas, only just.

Varalaru is good because Ajit is good.

K S Ravikumar shows only a modicum of his undoubted masala skills. Ravikumar’s famed ability to whip up hilarity and humor also goes missing. A R Rehman’s music, not his best effort, is niche and good to those who understand the subtlety of orchestration and melody.

To be fair to the director, the film has paid a price for having been made in jumps and starts. The jerks and stutters are real reflection of the production difficulties.

The story takes off with Shivashankar(Ajit), a millionaire with a debonair son Vishnu (Ajit). The former is confined to a wheel-chair, the latter is larky youngster enjoying the pleasures the world has to offer. While on a visit to a village, he falls for the charm of Divya (Asin).

But when he is about to get married to Divya, he acts crankily and shows lunatic tendencies (he even tries to bump off his father). Why? Well, it is all the handiwork of Jeeva (Ajit). He is also the son of Shivashankar.

Pray why is he after his dad’s blood? Well, that is the surprise (?) as it about an incident involving his mother (Kanika) and his father.

It is Ajit’s show all the way. He brings all the necessary tricks involved to make the trio look different. As Vishu, he is stylized and elegant. As Jeeva, he is cunning and committed. But it is as Shivashankar, he brings to fore all the special magic. As a man, with a passion for dance (which changes his body language), he is truly marvelous.

Asin too is as ever very chirpy and vivacious. She also revels in comic situations. Kanika as Ajith’s wife and later as a nervous wreck is good.

The comedy team of Ramesh Kanna and others don’t get their act right. That is a major disappointment. The comedy also borders on raunchy.

The technical backdrop too doesn’t measure. Rehman’s music, as we said, is good. But takes time to sink in.

Ravikumar has obviously worked under severe constraints. He has given his best but the production problems are too much and have an adverse say on the script.

But Ajit has managed to stand above the problems.

Varalaru may not make history. Yet, Ajit’s work will certainly uplift to it being at least a local legend.

Ajith vs Vijay: Punch dialogues in Pokkiri, Aalwar?

It has become a fashion statement in cine industry to let out punch dialogues or innuendoes at one another. Though this appears very juvenile to intelligent audience, the masses and the fans seemed to enjoy this verbal warfare. This ‘culture’ of punch dialogues would be overflowing in the films of Ajith and Vijay.

But according to the latest buzz, both the actors seemed to have come of age and mellowed down a lot. Perhaps they would have realized the futility of such exercise. In their forthcoming Pokkiri and Varalaru, reliable sources reveal that there are no insinuating dialogues hurled at each other.

“Good things are bound to happen only when someone analyzes the past” is a statement mouthed by Ultimate star Ajith while his archrival Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay has a different shade when he says, “Once when I decide on something, I myself cannot change it”.

Whatever it is, when there is bonhomie all over the place, it is good for everyone especially the crazy fans of the stars who are otherwise at loggerheads with each other.

Varalaru flies; Vallavan escapes - Diwali Releases and Censor Status

In the Diwali race of films, Varalaru is the first film to emerge with ‘U/A’ certificate after completing the necessary formalities at the Censor Board. Prints were flown to overseas areas yesterday. As we had reported earlier, the Simbu starrer Vallavan is caught in remuneration issues involving him. A visibly upset producer Thenappan has lodged a complaint against the Madurai based financier Anbu and Simbu’s dad Vijaya. T. Rajendar. But according to some media sources, as a sudden twist in the tale, mighty producer Oscar Ravichandran had allegedly stepped in and resolved the issue.

Interestingly Oscar Ravichandran is the distributor of Vallavan in the City and NSC territory, which contributes a big share of almost 70 to 80 theatres.

As Regional censor board is viewing the Diwali films continuously, eager producers and directors are in tenterhooks to get a clean U certificate for their films. Since family audiences will be the deciding factors on the success of any film, especially during festive seasons such as Diwali the producers are praying for U certificate; if not at least U/A.

As regards the other films, the movie that suffered a lot by way of cuts is the Sarathkumar starrer Thalaimagan. Scissors seemed to have worked over time in this film due to its political satires. According to the latest reports, Jeeva-Nayantara starrer ‘E’ has managed to get a ‘U’ certificate. Of the lot, Vaathiyar seemed to have emerged unscathed. We would keep the readers updated about other films. Watch this space for further developments.

Ajith going the rebel poet's way

Mahakavi Subramania Bharathiar remains the pride of Tamil Nadu. He is the source of inspiration for many people in their day-today activities. Kollywood also has used many of his poetries in the form of film songs and popularized it among the masses. But the latest buzz is that the central theme of Aalwar is said to be enthused from Bharathi’s famous verse ‘Nenju Porukkudhillaiye, Indha Nilai Ketta Maandharai Ninnaithu Vittaal’. The main motivation for the film seems to stem from these lines.

On the other hand, there is also a talk that is doing the rounds is that this film would be reflecting on the various ordeals that Ajith was subjected to in the film industry.

In the fight scenes especially Ajith is said to have performed very well empathizing with the character. It is alleged that the usage of double for Ajith is very minimal in this film. Whatever it is, Ajith’s fans are surely going to have a carnival ride when this film is released.

Trisha pairs with Ajith

We have been writing in our website about Trisha’s desire to feature as Ajith’s heroine in his next venture Kireedom. In fact she was even alleged to have challenged to her friends that she would only be the lady lead for Ajith in this film.

It appears as though God has listened to her prayers. Nayantara, Shreya and Trisha were in the fray for this prestigious post. But in all probability, Trisha is likely to emerge as the winner.

This film is expected to commence its shooting in November this year. While her assignments in Telugu industry would keep her shuttling between Chennai and Hyderabad till December, Trisha has informed the unit about her availability after December. This seems to have satisfied the producer and director. Hence the part excluding Trisha would be shot till she joins them.

The hero of the film, Ajith, seems to have turned his attention to new comers to the industry. Kireedom is slated to be directed by debutant Vijay Anand who is the son of A.L.Azhagappan. Dialogues will be penned by lyricist Na.Muthukumar.

Varalaaru: Release date confirmed

There was a buzz in Kollywood that ultimate Star's Varalaaru might not make it to the screens on time for Deepavali. But the producer S.S. Chakravarthy has banished all such baseless rumours.

The producer has announced that Varalaaru will release with a bang and on schedule, on October 21st, 2006.

This movie, directed by veteran director K.S. Ravi Kumar, features Ajith in three different roles. Asin is playing an important role in this movie. A.R. Rahman scores music.

Charmie denies rumors on Ajith's Kireedom

Remember that bubbly, plump girl with the smile of a Diwali firecracker? She was invented by T Rajendar to be cast opposite his son Simbu when they were in good terms (!!). In case you have not figured out yet, we are talking about Charmie – the Punjabi beauty. Her looks did not help her much to sustain a position in the Tamil industry.

She shifted her focus and after a couple of Malayalam movies she landed with her bags in Tollywood. The result, she is a budding talent in Telugu and is a promising star who can very soon shake the rank of Trishas, Nayantaras, and Snehas.

Recently, news was aloft that Charmie would be cast opposite Ajith in his next venture Kireedom after Alwar. However, Charmie denied the news in the name of rumors and stated that she is busy shooting for a couple of her projects in Telugu. She added that the Kireedom team had never contacted her with an offer opposite Ajith.

She further rubbished rumors about turning down offers from Tamil movies. Though Telugu movies pay a great deal, I am open for Tamil as well, reassured Charmie. Her ‘Style' in Telugu is a declared hit and has provided her ample attention in the industry.

Ajith's like for orderliness

We have been writing about the different dimensions of the personality of Ajith in our website. He seems to be a man who is very different from others in the film world, from speaking his mind openly to indulge in non-filmy avocations like car racing. He comes across as an interesting personality with fascinating attributes.

His office can boast itself to be a different one. He is following the corporate set up there from infrastructure to timings to rules. His staff can be cited at the office exactly at 9 in the morning with regular lunch hours till six in the evening. Ajith also seems to believe in the proverb, ‘Clothes maketh a man'. His staff cannot be sported in any clothes that they prefer. They need to be clad in full-sleeved formal wear. He being a stickler of discipline insists this kind of dressing even to his assistants at the shooting spot. Orderliness seems to be the key word in his life.

When other film offices scream total chaos from all corners, Ajith's office figures as the odd one out with perfect rules and regulations. It is indeed a welcome change

Accolades for Ajith

These days there is an extra focus on Ajith.

He is looking healthier than ever. And that is not all; his Varalaru is set for release this Deepavali.

Meanwhile, his current movie Aalwar is making all the right noises.

The film, that features him and Asin in the leads, is being made at a rapid pace.

The shooting maybe on at fast clip, but the film’s director Chella is looking relaxed.

For, he has struck a wonderful rapport with Ajith. ‘He is an amazing person. Full of energy and enthusiasm, he is an asset to the team,’ the director gushed.

Aalwar will provide plenty of fodder to the actor in Ajith, says the director.

The film has a mix of everything, and his fans will lap it up, he adds.

Ajith`s Varalaru – will it overcome the `Trichy trouble`?

Controversies and ‘Varalaaru’ seem to be inseparable. Though this may sound clichéd, nobody can deny the fact that the movie has seen innumerable turmoil. When finally it looks as if the decks are cleared for the movie’s release, it got stuck into another imbroglio of controversy. The movie which has been lying in the cans for close to two years is now confronted with a financial crisis.

The grapevine in the industry suggests that a Trichy based financier is yet to get his full settlement from the makers of the movie. Sources aver that the financier, who is also a big time distributor, has pumped in a massive amount. He has not been settled with his interest amount, let alone the principal.

This is a major bottleneck for the release of the movie in Trichy district, since the producer NIC Arts Chakravarthy had already settled enough problems and disputes initially after his tussle with Ajith. Whether this controversy manages to create the much-needed mileage, is difficult to envisage now.

However, the brighter side of the story is that the producers and distributors are unanimous in their desire to release the film positively for this Diwali. Hence it appears that Varalaru would come out of all this teething disturbances to emerge victorious in Diwali releases.

But the rumours are agog that, creating sensationalism before the release of the movie has become the order of the day. With about seven movies due for Diwali release a strong dosage of media publicity would do wonders for the movie. Whether this is jus a faux pas or a real crisis, one certainly hopes that the movie releases this time around and has a good run!!

Ajith the phoenix bird

Ultimate star Ajith is ready with flexed muscles awaiting his next release Varalaru. The man has mellowed down a lot. Life in cine industry has sure taught him a lesson or two. As always, he is riding on a positive wave of energy. Trials and tribulations have only helped him to transform himself in to a stronger person. This Diwali is going to be a super duper Diwali for his fans as his long pending movie Godfather (rechristened as Varalaru) is slated to hit the screen. They are already a frenzied lot more so with the conspicuous absence of a film from the rival camp.

The history of ‘Varalaru’

Ajith has donned on a different role in Varalaru, which he has not tried in his career hitherto. He is a trained Bharathanatyam dancer whose very passion about the art leaves him with an effeminate look. This reflects on his personality culminating into a deep dent in his marriage proposal. In one of such incidents, Kaniha (Five Star fame) ridicules him by commenting that she is interested in marrying only a man.

Outraged by such a comment doubting his masculinity, Ajith rapes her. This violent indignation of modesty results in Kaniha becoming the mother of twin boys. Out of the twins, one is being raised by the father and the other by the mother. Needless to say, the Ajith who is being raised by the mother grows up to become an honest man. But having fed by his mother to hate his father, he is on a trip of avenge. The rest of the movie revolves around these three characters.

Rajini bowled over by Ajith

When Varalaru was screened for superstar Rajinikanth, the film and the performance of Ajith awed him. On a jovial note, he had commanded the director not to delay the film any further and to release it soon. Usually, when a film is stalled for a long time, it is bound to lose its connectivity with the existing trend and would come across as an assembled piece. But in case of Varalaru, expectations are riding high and it is sure to be a milestone in Ajith’s career.

Message from Ajith

Though his fans are desirous of celebrating this mega event with the usual paraphernalia like festoons, cut outs and paalabishegam, Ajith has forbidden them to try out any of such tricks. He has strictly advised them to engage themselves in constructive acts like cleaning up their area’s sewage and drainage which will put a stop to mosquito breeding. In the present scenario, nothing else holds more relevance than this. He is very keen to take the social work that he has started in his parent’s name ‘Mohini-Mani’ to next level.

In a plethora of actors of various genres, here comes a person who is devoid of any hypocrisy and who is keen to make a positive difference to the society that he belongs to. This man sure stands out.

Aalwar at Swiss Alps

Ajith’s latest venture Aalwar is being shot in the scenic mountainsides of Switzerland. On 8th October, 2006, Ajith, Asin and the rest of the cast and crew of Aalwar departed to Swiss Alps to shoot two songs for the movie. Dance master Kalyan has choreographed two peppy numbers for the tunes of Srikanth Deva. This team will be back by this weekend. Producer Mohan Natarajan said “Seventy percent of Aalwar’s shooting has been completed. We are planning to release this racy adventure thriller for Pongal”. It is to be noted that Ajith had given bulk dates to debutant director Chella as he was impressed by his story narration. Director Chella says “Ajith – Vivek comedy will be the major highlight in this movie”.

Ajith sweats himself for the perfect song

We have reported earlier about Ajith and Asin’s trip to the breathtaking Switzerland for the shoots of a duet for his upcoming Aalwar.

This is about the pain that Ajith took during the composition of the song. Ajith underwent a grueling session of tune composing with the musician Srikanth Deva in the studios before packing his bags to Swiz.

Ajith paid a surprise visit to the studios in the evening and sat through the composing session of the song with Srikanth Deva. He seemed not to be satiated with the tunes that were shown to him by Srikanth. The discussions went on and Ajith rejected close to 14 tunes before finalizing the perfect one to be shot in the Swiz.

It was not until early in the morning that the musician and his crew were able to satisfy him with the perfect number. The song was recorded thereafter and Ajith left the studio brimming with fulfillment. Ajith’s dedication to Aalwar’s perfection is widely talked about and it is raising the expectations of the movie, which is due for an early 2007 release.

Ajith`s newfound hobby

It is not unknown that Ajith has a fetish for automobiles and races. He tried his hand in quite a few tracks and in the process missed out his main career – cinema that eventually went off track. His lack of attention was received with serious blows in his acting career and his career graph plummeted to an all time low. Besides, he had to go on a forced sabbatical owing to the injuries he suffered due to his races and was consuming steroids.

However, Ajith is revitalized and rejuvenated with his come back look and is sporting full of energy in his latest Aalwar. News here is that Ajith has found another interest these days to keep him engaged during the shoot breaks. He is seen carrying his hi-fi digital camera in the sets of Aalwar. He performs candid camera of sorts in the sets locking the funniest moments of the crewmembers in the sets. Nope, he doesn’t stop there. He prints out the snaps and presents them to the individual with his personalized signature leaving them awestruck.

Well, what we wonder here is, does he perform candid camera at home as well locking the pensive moments of Shalini?

By the way, Aalwar is shot at a fast pace and is slated for an early 2007 release, which suggests that Ajith’s fans can expect a visual treat for Pongal.

Ajith rocks

The talk of the town these days is the performance of Ajith in Godfather ---- now changed to Varalaru.

The much-delayed movie has Ajith playing three roles. Directed by K S Ravikumar.

Now this movie will be out for Deepavali.

Ajith plays triple roles --- a father and two twin sons.

There are plenty of shades to his characters and Ajith has shown amazing versatility in living up to the expectations.

The story is one of revenge. One of Ajith’s sons wants to polish him off. But another son comes to his rescue. Why this dramatic intrigue? Well, that forms the story.

Rajinikanth, who had a sneak preview of the film recently, was thoroughly impressed. He has conveyed his appreciation to Ajith for his splendid work.

Ajith's Aalwar for Pongal

This Deepavali, Ajith's Varalaru (initially titled God Father) will be out. Close on the heels, his film in the making Aalwar would hit the screens for Pongal.

Being produced by Mohan Natarajan featuring Asin opposite Ajith, Aalwar is directed by debutant Chella. He was a former associate of director S J Suryah.

Aalwar features Ajith in the role of a ward boy. A major portion of the movie was shot in Hyderabad Ramoji Rao Film City while a couple of songs would be canned in Switzerland.

Music is by Srikanth Deva.

Aalwar crew packs off to Switzerland

Ajith’s Aalwar is progressing relentlessly at a jet phase and the movie is already wrapped up by 50%. News is that the crew of Aalwar is flying to Switzerland to bring home some visual extravaganza of the magnificent landlocked Alpine country.

Aalwar unit has planned to shoot a duet in the exotic locations of Alps – as is inexorable in Indian cinema to have a song sequence shot in a foreign country.

Asin and Ajith embarked on the journey to Switzerland along with the crewmembers for the shoots. Kalyan is the choreographer of the sequence and will be grilling Asin and Ajith for the right steps of the duet.

Srikanth Deva, one of the hottest music directors of Kollywood has composed a peppy number, the lyrics for which is being penned by Vaali.

Aalwar is slated for an early 2007 release, most certainly for Pongal to feed the raving Ajith fans. Ajith’s long time venture – almost 2 years - Varalaru is being released for Diwali amidst huge expectations. Rahman’s music will remain the main attraction of Varalaru.

Trisha vows to pair with Ajith in Kireedom

Lady luck seems to be smiling at Trisha once again. With the emphatic success of ‘Unakkum Enakkum’, she has regained her foothold once again in Kollywood. It has been a while since she gave a hit in Tamil films. It was proving to be a disappointment for her especially when she happens to be the ‘daughter of this soil’. In the film world, a short absence is good enough to cause total amnesia in the minds of viewers. Thankfully ‘Unakkum Enakkum’ has brought her the much awaited success and happiness.

In Tollywood too, there is good news for her with the blockbuster victory of Stalin. For quite some time, her hold on the Telugu audience seemed to be slipping away with the arrival of Ileana. This was really giving her sleepless nights. But with the stupendous victory of this Chiru starrer, it is hoped that she grips the slip supported by the victory path laid down by Stalin. It has been heard that she wants to complete this cycle of victory with a film with Ajith. She has been vying for the heroine role in ‘Kireedom’, a new film that is to be launched shortly with Ajith as the hero. Trisha has even gone to the extent of swearing to her friends that she would somehow land in this plum assignment.

Director Chella guarantees a super-hit with Aalwar

Ajith is ready to rock, once again. The old suave and debonair look sits perfectly in place of the scrawny look with the right combination of weight and height. He is gleaming with inner strength, everything for Aalwar. Ajith takes the help of Omar Mukthar who says that ‘birth is signified by eyes opening and death by closing’ to convey his feelings. He is one person who believes that every day is a new day. He is very positive when he says that he would never ever fall again and would not let himself to fall.

Debutant director Chella is awed by Ajith. He is highly satisfied with the cooperation rendered by Ajith despite him being a rookie.

He recalls that Ajith exactly reflects his thought while performing in the sets resulting in a perfect shot. Though Ajith has a good standing in the industry, he did not let that interfere in Chella directing him. Chella fees indebted to him and expects to demonstrate his gratitude by giving Ajith a memorable hit for Aalwar.

Talking about the role that Ajith would be assaying in the film, he says it is the role of a ward boy in a hospital, which Ajith has never before done in his career. According to Chella anybody who is working in a hospital is like a mother as they cater to the needs of the inmates with care and kindness just like a mother. A small incident in the hospital sparks a violent change in the otherwise compassionate and sensitive Ajith who is totally metamorphosed after that. Though the movie may not be a milestone or a turning point in Tamil cinema, all the same, it would generate the necessary spirit among the audience. He also guarantees Ajith’s fans that Aalwar would be an entertaining chart buster which they have been expecting from Ajith for a long time.

Going by the contagious happy and confident mood, Aalwar is sure to be a top class hit.

Ajith in his silent mode

Ajith hardly ever spends time for an interview or two with the media and if he ever does, his quotes reverberate forever in the media for their controversial content. Such interviews gained him a conceited image and probably realizing that Ajith stopped giving interviews to the media.

This has taken a new turn now. Ajith is not seen talking to anyone these days – be it a function or a public gathering. His answer to the questions flung at him remains a smile – a nonchalant one.

He is otherwise seemed to be having a good time with his crewmembers in the sets of Aalwar and is particular in treating the technicians in his crew with due respect. Only time and Shalini can tell as to what kind of transition he is undergoing. But our assumption to this predictable transition is that he wants to keep himself off from the controversies – good to keep your lips pursed rather than inviting trouble by uttering something, what say?

Aalwar: Asin’s two shades of character

The entire Aalwar unit is contented with the way shooting has been progressing. Ajith has gotten back to his old handsome and charming look much to the delight of all his well-wishers. He seems to be ready for the battle for the top position in the industry. Ajith’s circle says that the ultimate star has rolled up his sleeve to face the challenge. He is totally charged and confident now.

But the news is not about that, but is about the character of the leading lady Asin in Aalwar.

People say that the character of Asin has really shaped up well in the film and has equal scope and opportunity with that of the hero. This talented Malabar beauty comes across as a college going girl staying in her grandmother’s place for her studies. Though appears to be a very calm and obedient girl indoors, she is totally the contrast outside her house. Understandably Asin has performed very well, clearly distinguishing between the two shades of character. Insiders expect that after Kalpana in Gajini, this role is sure to get accolades for Asin and would definitely be a milestone in her career.

Ajith in remake of Mohanlal’s super-hit flick?

Speculations were around even before the commencement of Alwar about Ajit’s next venture with the notable producer and Mohanlal’s father in law Balaji – we carried a report on this earlier.

Looks like the project is taking shape and Balaji’s son Suresh Balaji, who is in the ad film industry for quite some time, will produce the movie. The venture will be co-produced by the Mumbai based production company Adlabs.

News has it that the project is based on the Malayalam hit movie Kireedam that is hailed as a classic film with Mohanlal in the lead. The movie had a sequel to it as well namely Chengol. Does that mean Ajit is planning for a remake of two movies – sequels -which is as yet unseen in the industry? Both ways it will most certainly be a treat for Ajit’s fans.

Vijayanand, who is the son of A L Alagappan and the sibling of actor Udhaya, will direct the movie. Vijay has been assisting the veteran director Priyadarshan for some time before turning his ways into ad filmmaking. The shoots are reported to commence on December 15.

Ajith: Beyond just movies

The man who is called ‘Thalai’ by his fans impresses with his off screen persona. Normally recluse and media shy in his personal life, the press somehow got to know a few facts about this man and what came to light is very heartening. Ajith may just be setting an example for many others to follow.

We all know that most film personalities are involved in charities of some sort. But most of these are limited to cheque philanthropy; that is just to donate money. We are not saying that this is inadequate in any way.

But what Ajith is doing is a step above this. He gives not only his money but also his time to the underprivileged. Want to know further, read along.

Ajith and his wife Shalini are in the habit of regularly visiting a shelter for homeless children on the outskirts of Chennai. They spend the entire day with the children and get to know all that the children want and personally see to it that all their needs are fulfilled.

It is one thing to give one’s money, but it takes a really big heart to spend one’s time and take care of people who are not as lucky as oneself and Ajith is certainly showing the way for many others to follow. The fact that Ajith himself never disclosed this to the press or media shows that he is not doing this service as a publicity stunt. In respect of this humanitarian action the press has refrained from disclosing the name of that particular place which Ajith visits in order to avoid unwanted interferences.

Hats off Ajith.

Ajith’s latest hair style makes heads turn

Tirupathi’s 100th day celebrations were held at Ashok Nagar Lakshman Hall yesterday, 05/09/06 at 5.30 in the evening. Ramanarayanan who heads the Producer’s council bestowed mementos to all the technicians and artists who worked for the movie. AVM Saravanan was present in the function.

Ajith made heads turn with his latest hairstyle and his handsome attire. Shalini shined by his side in her sparkling outfit and they proved yet another time that they are a perfect couple made just for each other.

Ajith could be seen chatting casually with the technicians and he posed for photographs with the fans who were swarmed there for a glimpse of their favorite actor. He also took photographs with the technicians, theatre managers and other artists.

Earlier, S P Muthuraman welcomed the attendees of the function. The other celebrities who attended the function are Bharadwaj, R Sundarrajan, Mallika, Rajesh, Baskar and Perarasu. Lakshman Hall wore a star studded look yesterday evening, thanks to the function.

Tirupathi - Time to celebrate

Ajith is a reluctant participant in functions these days.

But the handsome hero will be seen in one, and with reason.

His Tirupathi has been a hit. And the production house AVM is all ready to celebrate the over-100days run of the film today.

There is a celebration meeting slated for the evening with Ajith being the center of attraction.

Perarusu, the film’s director, will also be there.

The honchos of AVM, including AVM Saravanan are also expected to participate.

Vijay and Ajith wave white flag in Asin issue

Asin is a busy lady nowadays. Her hands are pretty full or one might rather overflowing with commitments. What more, all those commitments are for films starring the big guys of the industry. The biggest of them all is Dasavatharam, then comes Vijay’s Pokkiri and then Ajith’s Aalwar.Out of the three, Pokkiri and Aalwar are being shot simultaneously.

Asin’s part in Dasavatharam still is a long way from being shot. So the focus is on Pokkiri and Aalwar. Earlier there had been news that Asin had absented herself from the sets of Aalwar to make herself available for Pokkiri, but that seems to be only partly true.

The simultaneous schedules have indeed resulted in some date problems for the actress. She is reportedly not able to fully satisfy both the directors and actors because she has to be constantly shuttling between the two units.

This has put both the crews in a spot. This topic has been much discussed and we have carried reports about Asin’s failing commitment to movies owing to her messy call sheet chaos.

In the midst of this, it is being said that some unknown interests are trying to take advantage of this situation and trying to instigate the heroes against the leading lady.

They are reportedly telling the heroes that the heroine is more interested in the other star’s project and that this could lead to further problems. It is not clear as to who is unleashing such talk, but one must say that the reactions by the heroes have belied expectations

Earlier one might have expected one of them to come out and make statements about the other star’s movie. We could also have expected the other star to react in a strong manner. After all, their rivalry is well known.

But the heroes seem to have grown out of their childish scrapping ways and have begun to respect each other. Both of them reportedly have brushed aside these gossips and said that such small talk was quite common in the industry and that it was not wise to heed such talk. Well, it seems that both of them are more concerned with rebuilding their careers than bringing the other down. Keep up the good attitude and also keep giving us good movies.

Vijay and Ajith - Healthy Competition

Currently Ajith is shooting for Aazhwar and the movie is expected to release by 2007 April. He has plans of doing a movie with debutant director Vijay Anand (An associate of film maker Priyadharshan) after completing Aazhwar. Aazhwar is planned to release on the day of Rajini's Sivaji.

Ajith's long time dream of getting the superstar title is not yet acheived. Now he is trying to compete with Rajinikanth. Already our Illaya Thalapathi Vijay is trying to grab the title. Competition is hot in the market now. We cinegoers have to hold our arse till next year to know the winner.

God Father is ready

Finally good news for all Ajith-fans. The actor's long-pending God Father may eventually see the light of the day this Deepavali.

Close on the heels of Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu's release, all pending issues preventing the release of God Father directed by K S Ravikumar and produced by NIC Arts Chakravarthy, have been sorted out.

The shooting will commence once Ajith is through with his Aalwar.

Aalwar – The Man, Mansion and Mission

Aalwar filming is on at full swing at Hyderabad. As we had said earlier a huge set had been erected resembling he Chennai general hospital. Now a new set has been erected just opposite to the existing one. The new one is that of a huge mansion. Ajith appears as the resident of this mansion.

You might have read many reports that Ajith acts as a ward boy in the hospital. You might be thinking as to how a ward boy can be the resident of a mansion. Well, both the reports are right. Only a small link is missing.

Ajith appears as the resident of the mansion. He is a man who likes to mind his own business. He has a friend, played by Vivek, who works as a ward boy in the hospital. Ajith gets to know about the various atrocities that are happening in the hospital from Vivek. This makes his blood boil. He devices a way to put an end to the atrocities.

He joins the hospital staff as a ward boy and takes matters into his own hands. The sequence of events that follow and he inevitable action are the main attractions of he movie.

The storyline seems to have greatly impressed the industry circles and it is being widely accepted that this is one of the ‘different’ stories being picturized at the moment. Looks like Ajith has finally made the right choice.

Godfather – Ravi to complain to Producers’ council

‘Godfather’ a movie being produced by ‘Nick Arts’ Chakravarthy, a yester year pal of Ajith is yet to see the light of the day. The movie itself began amidst lots of controversies.

It commenced long time ago and has completed its shoot. But due to the ego clash between the producer and director, the movie is not released till now.

Ajith being a sincere actor had given his heart and soul to this movie. In fact the movies that he had acted after Godfather have been released but this movie is still in the dark.

There was a time when director K S Ravikumar had helped the situation financially and a large portion of the movie was completed with his money. But the producer is not making any attempt from his side to release the film. Furious Ravikumar is planning to lodge a complaint against the producer in the producer council.

When Godfather was screened to Super star Rajnikanth, he was thoroughly impressed with the movie and urged the unit to release it soon. He seemed to have wondered what takes them too long to release the movie.

In the all above controversies and delays lies the hard work and toil of a sincere artist i.e. Ajith. Hope, the movie is released soon at least for his sake and gets him the rich accolades that he deserves.

Ajith plans for a grand gala!!

Though his recent flicks are proving to be disastrous at the box office, Ajith is no such guy who is behind image building and raises no tantrums about his filmi status off the camera. You will be surprised to hear if we say that Ajith is rendering a helping hand to quite a few noble causes apart from the heroic deeds that he performs onscreen.

Ajith seems to be very particular about the nondisclosure of his noble deeds mainly to shun the publicity it generates. He does not have a thing for fan clubs and openly criticizes fans who approach him to start fan associations.

Another interesting activity of Ajith involves throwing party to all the crewmembers distributing them with gifts on the final day of the shoot of his movies. He seems to have abandoned that practice since his Ji. Well, news is that he has rejuvenated his party spirits and decided to have a bash on the final day shoot of his latest Aalwar. Additional news is that preparations are underway for the gala.

Meanwhile, the first schedule of Aalwar was completed recently in Hyderabad. Ajith took photographs with each and every unit member. The picture was laminated, autographed and was given to the unit member on the final day of the shoot. Needless to say, all of them felt very happy and satisfied.

Ajith sure does have a style….

Aalwar’s action!!

The shooting for Aalwar is going on in full swing at the Ramoji film city in Hyderabad where a huge set of the Chennai general hospital has been erected. Ajith appears as a ward boy in the hospital.

A rejuvenated Ajith is reportedly dazzling on the sets of Aalwar. Recently a stunt scene was shot which involved nearly 500 junior artistes. The stunts, being choreographed by Super Subbarayan were reportedly very risky and were shot in a scene of utter chaos and mayhem inside the hospital, being caused by a band of villains looking for Ajith.

The fight sequence was that of Ajith hitting back. Amidst saline bottles and flying cartons and breaking windowpanes and patients running helter skelter Ajith batters the baddies. The scenes, reportedly very risky and were performed by Ajith himself without using any dupes. Director Chella, knowing the impact that the scene could cause in the theater has used many cameras to capture the scene. Hi tech cameras including the Akila Crane, Steadycam and Gimmy C were used to add effect.

Mohan Natarajan, producing the film for the Rajakaliamman films banner too was very happy with the way things turned out.

Apart from Ajith setting the screen on fire, the film will see Asin in the female lead with Pasupathi, Manorama, pithamagan Mahadevan, Sathyan among others. Vivek will be providing the lighter side for the film. He too is badly in need of a hit.

Chella is the one man behind the movie, doing the story and screenplay apart from the direction.

Ravi Mariya is writing the dialogues. Srikanth Deva is set to provide a few foot tapping numbers for Ajith and Asin and hopefully the audience to jive to. Aalwar, coming soon, for all Ajith fans to celebrate.

Ajith dazzles all over the city in Aalwar posters!

behind woods

Tamil movies, not unlike the Tamil society itself, are personality driven. Every generation has its idol on silver screen. MGR in the earlier part of last century and Rajinkanth in the later part. Now, that superstardom may not be attained yet. But if there is one man who is within striking distance of it – it’s Ajith. He has the looks, the style, the charisma and the acting repertoire. Added to that is the most important factor – a fan base which is the most loyal and devout in all of the film industry.

In recent times, the supremely talented actor has been under some pressure to deliver. There have been some conspiracy theories floating around. While it is beyond the scope of this author to explore if there is a deep-rooted conspiracy against the march of Ajith to the throne of Kollywood, it can surely be said that he has not been lucky.

But bad luck and conspiracies can only delay the inevitable. Not totally quell it. Aalwar, Ajith’s latest movie just looks to be the vehicle, which the ultimate star will ride to find his rightful place as the unquestioned leader of the Tamil world.

The soon to be released Aalwar has Ajith fans all excited. The movie features the ultimate star in a look that in reminiscent of his earlier blockbuster, Vaali. The posters that have adorned Chennai have his fans exclaiming, “Idha, Idhai thaan naanga edhirparthoem”

Every time an Ajith fan walks past these posters, he/she cannot stop getting all-high a full dose of the ultimate star. The posters are so real and so invigorating that many of the fans think this movie will be the one that catapults Ajith to the league of superstar for years to come. The pride that is evident on the fans when the go past this poster, has to be seen to be believed. That Ajith looks like a sculpted Greek god has only added substance to the whole buzz. In one of the posters, Ajith looks angry and just about ready to explode with the background showing the actor in a thinking posture. Brain and brawn – a perfect concoction.

The other poster has the actor paying his obeisance to the almighty. A pious looking Ajith who seems to seeking the blessings of the Lord Ganesa to make his journey to superstardom, smooth. This is sure to make even a person who has never ever watched a movie in his life to fall in love with this wonderful actor.

Keerthi Chawla, who was a nondescript actress until recently, has landed in the role of her life. In what will change her life forever, she has been signed up to play an important role with Ajith in this movie. Not everyone gets such opportunities and Keerthi could well be next No. 1 heroine in Kollywood – just because of this one movie. The actress, who has also signed up to play the heroine in Captain’s Dharmapuri, is set to play the role of a medical student.

The movie has Ajith as the ward boy in a hospital. Asin is the lead female cast. Keerthi is expected to have a meaty role and not a mere glamour quotient.

The friendship between Ajith and Keerthi will form the crux of the movie. Playing a ‘compounder’ for the first time, Ajith will thrill us, and put us through a joy ride and an emotional roller coaster.

Chella the director of the movie is fully confident about making the best use of Ajith. For the sake of his fans and for his own sake, let us hope that is true.

Ajith’s 4 hrs/day preparation for Aalwar !!

behindwoods

Ultimate Star Ajith has not had a very good time over the past 2 to 3 years. His movies have constantly run into trouble and crashed at the box office. Much talked Naan Kadavul too ended up in problems resulting in Ajith bowing out of the movie.

Now he has taken up Aalwar with debutant director Chella, who has worked an assistant to S J Suryah. Ajith who had shed a lot of weight and grown his hair to fit in for Naan Kadavul has reportedly snipped his hair and is putting on weight for Aalwar. He is also working out for nearly 4 hours a day to step up his fitness levels.

He is reportedly trying to get back his Vaali look, which to date remains his most popular character.

Amongst all this activity Ajith is also said to be keenly following his horoscope and the interplay of the stars that seem to have given him the rough times. But, the stars can change any time and Ajith seems very much on track to make a resounding comeback.

The newly elected members of Producers' council are taking serious steps to resolve this. Sources say, Ajith’s God Father and Kamal’s Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu wlll hit the marquee next month (August).

Godfather may soon see daylight!!

It has been a disturbing trend in the industry off late that many movies which have almost completed shooting and post production works are lying in the cans unable to see the light of day due to financial problems of a few lakhs.

The industry has noticed this and a new council has been set up to look into this issue and sort it out. The council has reportedly expressed regret at the fact that movies that are worth crores are lying locked up due to a shortage of few lakhs.

So the council has decided that it is time to step in and give a chance for the films to be released. The help from the council set up may come in the financial form or otherwise.

The first of the films to benefit from this is likely to be Ajith Kumar's 'Godfather'. It has kept all Ajith fans guessing for quite some time now and it seems that the wait is finally coming to an end.

It is going to a much-needed release for Ajith who is suffering from the worst patch ever in his career, also director K.S.Ravikumar is in search of a hit for himself.

A huge set replicating the Chennai Government Hospital has been erected at Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad where the shooting would commence.

Producer Mohan Natarajan, who has come out with over a half-a-dozen movies including Pookalai Parikathirgal, Velai Kidaichiduchu, before says it would be a mega-budget movie without any compromise.

Pasupathy plays the baddie in the movie and the star cast also includes Manorama, Sathyan among others.

Ajith has undergone rigorous physical exercises and trimmed his body to suit the role.
Says Chella, 'Aalwar refers to a man who is both mentally and physically agile. Ajith plays the lead role filled with daredevil acts'.

Ajith’s Aalvar - Photo session over and the film to kick off on August 1

Ajith has just finished the photo session of the film Aalvar. Mohan Natarajan is the producer under his Sri Rajakali Amman Films banner. Chella, an associate of SJ Suryah is the director. Asin is the heroine. Recently, the lead pair finished their photo session. Chella is excited and nervous about the project. He said that when he sought his mentor’s blessings on being offered the chance to direct Ajith, SJ Suryah encouraged him and gave him his best wishes.

SJ Suryah had directed Ajith in Vaali. So Chella says, “There will be no double role for Ajith as reported in one section of the media. But, you will see Ajirh hit the form he had in Vaali”.

After working with Surya and Vijay, this would probably be the first film for Asin with Ajith (leaving aside the Godfather fiasco). The selection of other artistes is on. Srikanth Deva would be scoring the music and Ramesh G of Naalai fame wields the camera. The movie will kick off on August 1 in Hyderabad.

Parting shot from Chella, “My aim is to be a winner always. But then only when you make my films successful, can I say this.” Well, Chella, if you make good films, you are bound to be successful. Good luck, then boy!

P.Vasu is the director of this movie.Kandepi Satyanarayana is producing the film under Raghavendra Cine Chitra banners.

Vishnuvardhan and Ajith – ‘Not now’, says Vishnu!

Source: behindwoods

The most sought after director in tinsel town these days seems to be director Vishnuvardhan of Pattiyal fame. Already rumours are doing the rounds that he may direct Ajith's next movie. But Vishnu has put a firm stop to all of it by saying, "While it is true that I was approached to direct Ajith's next film under the production of Mohan Natrajan, I was unable to accept as I have already committed a film to director Bala's B Studio's house of filmmaking. So I had to let the opportunity of working with Ajith pass."

Since he has revealed that his next project is for B Studio's, we are only curious to find out more about the project. "It is a joint venture between Studio Green's Gnanavel and Bala's B Studios and the movie is titled "Sarvam". The story, screenplay, dialogue and direction of the film will be my responsibility, with actor Surya playing the lead and Tollywood heartthrob Ileana being cast opposite Surya."

This director sure is busy, as shooting for this film starts in October, with the goal of releasing this film for Tamil New Year next year, while he has already committed to direct a movie for Saran and Gemini Productions!

Ajith-Bala tussle: Financiers under trouble! One attacked by a mob and the other to face police action?

Much like He-who-shall-not-be-named from the Harry Potter series, we have a financier in the Tamil film industry who commands respects, calls the shots, and literally has the industry shivering when they just hear his name.

Well, considering the fact that he is the sole financier for a majority of Tamil films produced, it hardly comes as a surprise. In fact, even in the recent Ajith – Bala fracas, his name was the central figure, as there were complaints that he was the one who threatened Ajith. Dailies and magazines have started to write about his atrocities in the industry, subtly though, and it is said that since the government has changed hands, the financier might be in serious risk of facing police action.

High vigilance is being observed by the police, as they wait and watch, hoping for one small slip, to catch the financier red-handed. Sadly, there is no one to bell the cat, and rumour has it that many top producers, actors and directors have lost their wealth and sometimes even their lives too, courtesy this dreaded figure in the industry. Recent reports state that a leading producer has finally lodged a complaint against him, under the protection and surety of the police of course. Looks like it might not be long before He-who-shall-not-be-named will be behind bars.

Meanwhile another financier Sanjay, who is said to be have been a part of the Ajith – Bala episode that took place in the hotel, was attacked by a mob last night. Ajith fans, who are furious over the episode, participated in several demonstrations all over the state and also pasted posters condemning Bala. There were plans even to hold demonstrations outside Bala's residence, but Ajith intervened and requested his fans to maintain patience, assuring them that he would handle the situation.

Here is a detailed report on the sequence of events – Sanjay is also a film financier and he is said to have been there when the Ajith –Bala tussle took place in the hotel. Sanjay is also said to have threatened the actor. Last night, Sanjay, accompanied with his wife, drove into his new home at New Avadi Road, Kilpauk. They got out of their car, and moved towards the house, when two strangers neared him, pretending to be enquiring about an address. Suddenly, a Toyota Qualis arrived on the scene, halting suddenly with screeching brakes.

Ten people jumped out of the car and in seconds, they fiercely attacked Sanjay and his wife. The couple had to finally escape in their car!

Sanjay immediately launched a complaint about the incident in the G3 Kilpauk Police station. Joint Commissioner Seema Agarwal, Assistant Commissioner Ganesa Moorthy and Deputy Commisioner Rangarajan are enquiring into this matter and the police are seriously on the lookout for this mob.

Ajith stops Vijayakanth - "Do not intervene" !

The Ajith-Bala threat encounter is taking on new angles every other day. What was reported by the press... is it true? Was Ajith threatened to return the advance he was given for 'Naan Kadavul' along with interest? Was he forced to sign on a blank paper? These are million dollar questions for which there are no answers, since neither Ajith nor Bala are speaking about it.

When everyone is talking about it, people wondered why the Nadigar Sangam remains silent. It is understood that the actors have urged Vijayakanth to take necessary action. Following this, Vijayakanth called Ajith and asked him if it was true that he was threatened and to give a complaint to Nadigar Sangam to that effect, so they could take action. In response Ajith has said, "I am happy that you have enquired after this incident," but insisted that he would tackle the matter himself.

Actor Nasser who always fights for justice has also called up Ajith and urged him to courageously file a complaint so they could take the necessary action. Ajith is supposed to have given him the same response as he did to Vijayakanth.
Ajith is one person who does not speak about his troubles or his charity work. He has worked free in films hassled by finances or for producers who have undergone losses. Does he club the 'talks with Bala' at Palmgrove Hotel in this category? God knows. But one thing is for sure.

The ultimate star is indeed one of a kind!

Ajith-Perarasu combo’s ‘Yaar Kadavul’ to counter Bala!!

Only Perarasu would have the gumption to do it. As the Ajith-Bala controversy is raging, there is buzz in Kollywood that Perarasu has joined hands with Ajith and titled the new film as Yaar Kadavul. Tipped as the contender to Bala’s Naan kadavul, the films could be released on the same day. Perarasu would be completing Dharmapuri and might just as well start on it next. Rumors are agog that he has already penned a song, “Nee kadavula, naan kadavula, yaar kadavulda? Unnaiyum ennaiyum vazha vaikkira kadavul rasigan da.”

Tamil cinema is always known for symbolism. This might just be the beginning of a new round of battle and a vocal one at that. Watch this space for more developments.

Pressure on Ajith
IndiaGlitz

A section of actors has been reportedly been urging Ajith to file an official complaint against director Bala for reportedly threatening him for refusing to act in Naan Kadavul.

Reports in the vernacular press have been suggesting that Ajith was grilled by some henchmen reportedly sent by Bala after the actor refused to be part of Naan Kadavul.

Though Bala and Ajith both said that they have sorted out the differences between them mutually, reports of Ajith being threatened have created ripples in the industry.
Major voices in Kollywood wants the Nadigar Sangam to intervene in the issue and safeguard the interests of the actor.

They have sent their representations to Nadigar Sangam president Vijayakanth in this regard. They have even threatened to go on a one-day token strike against Bala if the issue is not sorted out soon.

Meanwhile fans of Ajith have been continuing protests against Bala. Posters have been struck by them condemning Bala in different parts of the State.

Meanwhile, it is also learnt that Vishnu Vardhan, who was to do a film for Bala, has now dropped it. Instead, he is penciled to do a movie with Ajith.
Is the industry rallying against Bala?

Dharani-Ajith together?
IndiaGlitz

Rumors are abuzz that director Dharani might direct Ajith this year.

After Ajith declined to be part of director Bala's Naan Kadavul, expectations were high on his next film. Buzz was that he would be doing a film for Suresh Balaji Productions.

Meanwhile sources close to Ajith said, 'the actor has apparently agreed to be part of a film to be directed by Dharani. The movie may hit the floors this year-end'.

After a dismal show in his recent Telugu venture Bangaram, Dharani has been eyeing to make it big in Kollywood. Meanwhile Ajith is keen on continuing his good run in Kollywood following the success in Paramasivan and Thirupathy.

The two have principally agreed to come together.

Dharani's last venture in Tamil was Ghilli. After almost a couple of years, the director would be back in Kollywood to try his luck.
